So, uh... there's a non-zero chance I could end up with two Switches? I'm not, like, expecting it or anything; if there's one thing you can rely on my dad for, it's disappointment.
But he's making an awful lot of suspiciously specific complaints about how expensive "that Nintendo thing" is, and I know he knows I want it. Today was the third time he complained about how $300 is soooooooo super expensive how could ANYTHING possibly cost that much, and this time I didn't even bring it up. He did. Out of nowhere.
The last time he did this was... a while ago, like six or seven years tbh so I might be reading way too deeply into it, but that time he did it so that I wouldn't suspect that he had actually bought me the things that I'd asked for. I haven't even asked him for this (not seriously, anyway) - he's already spent $150 on fountain pen stuff for me and I'm sure that was physically painful for him to do, because *gasp* spending money on something I actually want and asked for? IMPOSSIBLE, but I wasn't about to ask for a $300 thing - probably closer to $450-500 after you include a case, a memory card, games, etc. - on top of that.
And then mom slid up to me all "hey if you want something big for Christmas I can do you one (1) big thing" so... I asked her instead. And she came through.
...but my dad doesn't know that. And I told her that I'm suspicious, so she's going to try and figure out whether or not he has or he's planning on it - because if he did/does then obviously I can't open the one she bought at his house (Christmas is always at dad's, because dad likes to pretend we're a family) because then he'll find out. And I told her not to tell him that she bought me one. I think she's got my back on this. I'm not 100% sure, and I also don't know that she'll tell me, regardless of what she finds out.
But if this turns out to be the case I am going to laugh so fucking hard.
